WhiteChedda
While trying to help some ungrateful git on the NWN forum, I was reminded of the Opengl Subsystem error JK2 users were having. This may be a known fix already, but the issue is linked to NWN. Excpet in NWN the test simply tell syou you don't meet the hardware requirements and reports your opengl version as 1.1.0 instead of 1.3.1 on nvidia cards. I assume this can effect ATI users as well, but I am unsure. Anyway what happened to make your system so screwy? Some little application changed your Win.ini file by adding a line that disabled Direct Video Access. Opengl however, needs direct vido access to work correctly. When its disabled, the OS defaults you to using MS's opengl ICD instead of your video card manufacturers. Now what some of you may be weaiting for, the fix. Open up your Win.ini file in a text editor. The easiest way its to run sys edit and select the win.ini file, but if you prefer another way, so be it. Locate the [Drawdib] section and then look for a line that reads DVA=0. Add a semicolon in front of the line so it reads ;DVA=0 Now close and SAVE the file [do not change the name]. Rerun your game. This effects ALL opengl games, and the specific error subsystem failed, is common across all Quake3 based games. Possible side effects of this fix, the application that made this change should be some type of video player, and it MAY need to disable DVA to operate correctly. If this is the case your going to have to make a little sacrafice and change your WIN.INI back and forth as needed. Simple remove the semicolon to redisable Direct Video Avccess should you find you need it for video playback. Peace........
Syckozis
I've had that problem. However I couldn't fix it because I couldnt' find these inside of this step. Locate the [Drawdib] section and then look for a line that reads DVA=0. Add a semicolon in front of the line so it reads ;DVA=0 Now close and SAVE the file [do not change the name]. I didn't have Drawdib or DVA=0 So I couldn't fix it. Any other ways? O i get that subsystem error still

There is another way to cause teh NWN error, i assume it will cause the error for Q3 based gmes. and thats to have a screwqed up registry entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OpenGLdrivers There should be an entry labeled RIVATNT with a value of nvopengl.dll, if not, again the systenm defaults to the opengl32.dll that windows came with.
