Sigh.

I'm almost getting depressed playing this game..

It's a great game, well done, and lightsaber fights never get boring.

But I decided to look on Gamespy Arcade adn found only 180 some people playing

I kind of got taken back.

I remember the old days when servers were in the hundreds wiht many players, now it's just..meh.

I dont know I found this game amazing and I can't doubt that thers other things to play, but theres 22,000 CounterStrike players and the next closest game is Quake3 with mods included just topping over 3,500 players.

I find that severly asinine. Eve NWN struggles with 1,800 some players.

I mean why is it no one plays JK2 no more? And did SOF2 get thrown in to the dark? It's a great game, but no one plays it, it's so sad!

I myself love modelling for JK2, and the recent Yoda controversy has distilled many modellers away from our happy community, and in some respects I'm only really looking forward to HALO for PC and hopefuly its modding capabilities, no other game is really catching a glint in my eye. I mean yes there is obviously Star Wars Galaxies, but I want a game I can tear apart and in some respects claim my own like JK2 and making models for it. And I will continue to do so, but it just seems now that Jedi Knight 2 is dieing..slowly. Even mods like Jedimod, which I personally think is fantastic, are dieing. Most people are just CTFing, with full Speed force on and Push/pull or Grip combinations..it loses its appeal. But the Duel servers are always there, and they provide grand challenges for any valiant Jedi or Padawan. But as I sit back and play it's coming me, it just doesn't seem like no one likes games no more.

In a way I choose to abhor Counter-Strike, playing since Beta 1 when it was released I force myself not to play it no more; simpleton combinations : Rush, Camp, or AWP-Whore, are no longer my ilk. Even then when I play great I'm blamed for cheating, and I equally hate the numerous OGC hackers on CS myself.

I don't really know. But it's almost like there is no other game but CS too many. Lan parties are dominated by it and I leave almost every time at the shear stupidity of every 12 year old yelling "l337 H@x0R$" or other stupid crap out loud. Us Quake2ers know that it was in fact "3l337 H@x0|2$". But none the less I hope you see my point that I'm absurb with it. Oh well.

Jedi Knight 2 is still fun and it lives on, but for some reason I'm not getting that spark no more, and it just seems like the community is dwindling. Hopefully someone can respond. If this turns into a flame war then so be it.

CS is big because a lot of people started playing MP JUST to play that game. Don't sweat it, in time it will fade away too. As for JK2 maybe you should try just using the ingame brouser instead. Gamespy doesn't seem to get as many servers. At least we HAVE ingame brousers. Back in the day, we had to MANUALLY input ip addresses, and WE LIKE IT. ;)

Don't fett about the JK2 community, once we clean out all the "l337 H@x0R$", spammers, and people who whine 24/7 about the patches, things will look great. :) Currently, my project is to clean out all the constantly reposted newbie questions with a nice, big, friendly Forum FAQs. :)

Hopefully with enough time we can come up with a mod to prevent all the Grip / push / pull / DFA / BS / etc. whorin' that comes around whenever a game is meant to won. :)

Er... GSA is not an appropriate way to gauge how many people are on each game. If it were the only server browser availible, then maybe it might be more accurate, but the Ingame Server browser and ALL SEEING EYE are still being used by lots of people (right? Right.).

If GSA was the only server browser for JK2 (such as Star Trek Starfleet Command) then you could accurately depict the current situation. However judging from the active-ness of this forum and models/mods still churning out from the community, I'd say it's long from dead.

And btw, I personally don't use GSA cause all the images and sounds take up lots and lots of resources... not to mention the ads.

I think Agent "Orange" has a point.

The problem with JK, is that it easy to learn, but it takes a lifetime to master! Facing just Saber-specialist on the net without a passion burning, then you wont last long.....

CS? Take a gun and shoot!? Just for any d-m forgotten moron!

Well, not that easy maybe, but I hope you get the point.

There's a big risk that in 6 months there only the believers left.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't had this fun since old TA, but all the moves, all the Force Powers. It takes long time to master....

And more, maybe Raven should develop multiplayer with more alternatives!

I've not really worried about JK2 dying a death. I'd go with the in game browser option, it's bound to be more profligated than something like GSA.

JK2 has such a large fan-base (thinking Stars Wars as a whole) to plug into it'll last longer than something like CS. I'm not a total Star Wars geek/freak but firing up that sabre with the kosher sfx gives the whole game an extra dimension that othes FPS's just *can't* match.

The other options include picking up a gun and firing. Yes JK2 is hard to master but that's part of the appeal imo. For those with the shorter attention span... flamers, scripters and spammers have their fun then usually go back to the zit popping, worrying about virginity and homework soon enough.

LOL!

Star Wars geek/freak .........??

---------------------

The problem in the end is that the Geek/freaks that are playing PC games and have time to do that day in and day out, they are not many. Despite originating from Star Wars!

JK player will diminish. Thats a fact....:(

The in-game browser is super, I agree, the best I've seen so far....
