DaNameLessOne
Does anyone know if it is possible to disable clientside scripts? The ones in particular that I am talking about are the one that taunt and annoy defeated players. After every frag is messages everyone: <playername> you are the X number person I have defeated. I don't want that crap running. It is annoying, antogonistic and it clogs my games.log file with crap!!! My only solution thus far has been to ask users not to use it. If they do not comply they get kicked. If they come back with the script they get banned.....
Jasco Smlee
I think they are probably using Kill Tracker. You could try using Vulcanus AdminMod to silence them.
DaNameLessOne
Actually I do use the Adminmod. Silencing doesn't help. All the user has to do is disconnect and reconnect or connect at a time when I am not online playing or tailing my logs...... I was just hoping there was maybe a cvar that will let the server admin decide that automated messages like that can be turned off....... You listening Raven???? Maybe a change for 1.05 turn that auto messaging crap off.
pvc
U could parse the log-file with a small program ( I prefer perl) and if some keywords appear, u could set an ip input filter for a short time (which will let them see the game but not be able to move - they get kind of freezed ...) or send them a warning message to kick them next. Output parsing is fairly easy on linux since the shell pipes very well. (See thread Admin Linux tool using rcon 4 more infos....) PVC
Elsar
as far as i know can't do anything to stop it... becuz ur server doesn't recognize a "script" by the client but just a plain chat msg. basically the client has a few or one scripts like cfg files running on his machine and it only sends chat msg. to ur pc and we cant ban chat as admins... but actually KillTracker is a good program... if u were to stop its function ull need to get the code for it and see exactly how it Id's the targets it's killing & taunting... if it is a server related thing than u might be able to stop it... but if it a pure client thing than u cant... DaNameLessOne
Yes I have looked into the killtracker and skin/saber changers. There is not a way to stop them on the server. My response has been that I have a rule prohibiting their use. If they use killtracker I silence them and send them a pm from the server letting them know that I muted them... As for the skin/saber changers I ask that they turn it off. If they don't I kick them. If they come back again and do it again, I ban them. Not nice but so far those tactics are working. The script users do not reconnect, and the regulars know that I mean business about the rules, and follow them....
