Help.. running server on router..

Hey, i just got a new computer, and am now networked through a Belkin Gateway 4 port router.. anyways, when i try to set up a server, i can play on it, but other ppl cant connect to it. I am not very knowledgable about networks/routers, etc.. but my guess is that the IP for my server, 192.168.2.2:28070, is the router IP.. the IP for this computer is something like 24.189.104.87.. so i think i need to forward that IP (the 24.189....) to the game, so it will use that instead of the router IP.. am I wrong? I am just guessing.. well, if thats the case, then I have no clue how to do that.. so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What u need do to is open ports or i should say forward ports 27999 to 30000 to ur lan ip and that shoul dtake care of ur problems...Or u can try dmz host and see what that does too..To do all this u have to log into ur router and look for sua/nat or port forwarding in ur menu

No, thats wrong. You need to set up Network Adress Translation as mentioned by viper.

The router gets only one ip from the provider. Thats why you cant use a router directly connected to you dsl modem (at least if you use more then one computer). Now you need to map some ports on your server to the router ip. I guess the router has a (web?)interface which allows you to configure this. The feature is called network adress translation (NAT). If you map the ports between 22000 and 30000 to the router ip it should work.
