I think I did everything right, but I'll list the steps and hopefully someone can tell me if i did anything wrong. The first thing I did was extract the player I wanted from the assets0.pk3 file. I then renamed the skin file including _default. I modified the jpegs and tgas and saved them. I then changed the information that needed to be changed in the .skin file. Then I created an icon and named it icon_default_blah blah. Then I zipped it into a .pk3 file and loaded into the base folder in the game. The game still doesn't recognize it.
