Im new with modeling

Hi all im new with modeling and i downloaded Milkshape and i have made 2 desent lightsabers my-self. And now im downloadin gmax and i think it will be better. I need to know what programs i need to skin and how do i make my modles look like pics so i can put it on the forms. i need help please help me:deathii:
