Guest Ray Park
The Drunken Master 2 is one of the best martial arts movies ever! It definately has the best fight seen of all time. I recomend watching the first Drunken Master as well, so you'll fully apreciate the character Wong Fei Hung (played by none other than Jackie The Man Chan) and the Drunken Boxing, the beautiful, exciting, and comical style that Chan created and choreographed and performed himself. The story begins with Wong Fei Hung (a hero in Chinese history, became one of the most revered Kung Fu artists ever) causing trouble in his village and being sent away by his father to train under his uncle Sam Seed. Sam Seed is an old drunkard who has never been beaten in a fight and is feared throughout the land, even by Thunderfoot (I love these old Kung Fu movie names), the most notorious assassin alive. Wong Fei Hung quickly becomes much tougher under Sam Seed's painful training and proves his worthiness to learn Sam Seed's secret style, the 8 Drunk Gods. The style is a real myth in Chinese folklore, but has never actually been done before. Jackie Chan proves himself a genious and true artist with an amazing display of each style of the drunken boxing. Then he tests out his skills on a famous fighter called The King of Sticks (it must sound a lot cooler in Chinese). The King of Sticks is a scrawny looking nerd, but he is DAHAAANG good with his staff. But not good enough to keep Fei Hung from opening a can of whupass and shoving his face into cow manure. The movie ends when Fei Hung returns home to find his father being attacked by Thunderfoot. Sam Seed appears and watches along as Fei Hung and Thunderfoot engage in a truly historic fight scene. The seen is done in the traditional Kung Fu theatre choreography, but Jacki Chan's brilliance and panache make it an awsome, beautifully choreographed dance with some of the phatest kung fu, tae kwon do, and breakdancing moves I've ever seen. The second movie is even better though. In this one you get to see Fei Hung get down for some serious action. Some greedy and corrupt members of the British consualte are working with some Chinese officials (Ho Sung Pak, model for Rayden and Lui Kang in the Mortal Kombat games, and Kenneth Lo Wai Kwon, Jacki Chan's personal body gaurd in real life and one bad MF) to steal valuble treasure's from Hong Kong and smuggle them out of the country from a steel factory, threatening the people's wealth and insulting their historical dignity. Fei Hung and few of his friends figure out what's goin' on and decide to lay the smack down. The movie ends with what is by far the most intense and most impressive fight scene ever filmed. Chan and Lo fight for almost a half an hour. Word is the scene took months to film and Jackie recieved 2nd degree burns from a sweet stunt (Lo kicks him into a pit of burning coals). The seen is just too cool. Chan and Lo go all out. They both show off their own amazing abilities and unique styles to the extreme. Anyone who likes martial arts, dancing, gymnastics, action, and comedy has to see this movie. Here's some clips from the fight with Chan and Lo. Sorry if this takes forever to load, but I love this movie so much I just have to tell people about it. ------------------ BEER! BEER is my ally!
