gersma
perhaps you guys can help me out? Im having a problem with serving multiplayer games. The thing that i want is running a server without to start 2 intances of the game. problem : when i run 'dedicated server internet' the game runs in the console and i have to start another multiplayer game to play on my server, no problem with that, but in this way, i do not have acces to the console, for example when i want to manually change maps, i cannot do that, i have to exit the game, type in the map command (in the server console) and than try to re enter the game, sometimes another player has connected and the server is full. When i run 'dedicated server NO' i can all do that, but the server is not seen on the internet! (so no players who connect) i run a winxp, and i removed the 'localhost' entry in xp host file. so dedicated server NO can be connected through the internet. problem : this server does not send a heartbeat to your 'masterjk2' server. Is there a solution to this problem? Is there a tool that sends only heartbeats to your server, without actually serving a game?? All i want is to run a server on the internet for jk2, where i am an active player and administrator at once. Many Thx in advance, Gerdy...... Raze
host a listen server and type 'heartbeat' in the console to manually send a heartbeat...
KnightHawk420
You could always just continue running it as dedicated and use rcon commands to change maps and whatnot.
gersma
thx man, the rcon command is a real breakthrough. i did a little research on the use of this command and the server setting (must set a rconpassword) now everything runs ok, changing maps andso.... a million thx for the tip...
