this article I'm reading says the PSX II will be able to connect to the internet.

 

Furthermore, it will be retro-okay, so we can play JPB on it.

 

Theoretically, that could mean that we could play two player games over the internet?

 

The people in this room could then play each other?

 

Does anybody know if the PSX II will have this capability, or am I just getting excited for nothing?

The good is that the PS2 will be able to play the old games.

 

The bad news is, the internet option to multiplay will only be available on new games.

 

I believe the internet multiplayer code will have to be incorporated into the game itself.

 

JPB now doesn't have the code in the program to project the game to two different sites. They'd have to make a special version of JPB for internet play.

Jericho is right - the game has to be compatible for internet play.

Do not expect internet compatible games to be made for the Playstation - the only reason the PS2 has backwards compatability is so Sony can keep two markets open at once, and so players can buy both PS and PS2 games.
