Master Shawn Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 Ok, I know i dont have any pics yet, but I am just about to leave to see Signs and I wanted some feedback, I need some more refrence pics so I can fit in the details on the model, I have everything done from the sabre shown on thelightsaber.com so far. I request that the mods dont close this because I will post pics as soon as im back from the movie.
Master Shawn Posted August 6, 2002 Author Posted August 6, 2002 OK, im back, and I have a few pics to show you my progress. Screenshots '
-[MotU]-Lyger|=- Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 anything coming from you shawn has got to be good. Your saber hilt is the sh-t
Master Shawn Posted August 7, 2002 Author Posted August 7, 2002 OK, ive just finished the skin. Heres a pic, also, the black stripe has the same design on the back, mostly because I didnt feel like cylinder UVWmapping it, but if you guys think its a major problem I can redo the UVWMap and fix that. Shot Edit: Eek,I noticed a modelling error, I guess I have to re-UVWmap it anyway, ill try that tomorrow though as I am a bit tired
funny_dude0 Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 See if you can get the people over at the Jedi Mod hilts in progress thread thingy to get your Obi-Wan and Trebor Coleman sabers mod compatible if you possibly can. I'd appreciate it.
Master Shawn Posted August 7, 2002 Author Posted August 7, 2002 I finally finished skinning it and everything, but i noticed a small error, somehow, the UVWmap is errored and its adding over 300 extra vertices to the model. I dont have a clue on how to fix it and I dont have aspirations of starting over, if someone could tell me any fix for this I would be appreciative.
KBell Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 Master Shawn, i love the hilts you make. But when you made your AOTC Obi Hilt, how did you make it my.... well...shiney?
KBell Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 Master Shawn, i love the hilts you make. But when you made your AOTC Obi Hilt, how did you make it my.... well...shiney? or glossy?
Master Shawn Posted August 7, 2002 Author Posted August 7, 2002 I used Fireworks4 to make a metal texture, you can add lighter colors into the silver to make it appear shiny and glossy.
KBell Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 Bingo! thats the key word i need to hear "Lighting Effects" THANKYOU Shawn and i hope other people realise how great your models r.
KBell Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 oops you said "lighter colors" not "lighting effecfs" but You popped an important word in my head so ill try it anyway
Master Shawn Posted August 7, 2002 Author Posted August 7, 2002 I finally came to a hopeful solution, im UVWmapping each half seperate, the bottom half is cylindrical, and the top is planar. THis should put me just under the vertices limit
Master Shawn Posted August 8, 2002 Author Posted August 8, 2002 Ok, here it is, 100% done Screenshot Tell me what you think and I will release it for download.
funny_dude0 Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Looks good to me. I say it's ready for release .
Mr Tim Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Agreed - it looks fantastic. When you release it though, please make sure that it's compatible with JediMod. Keep up the good work
Master Shawn Posted August 8, 2002 Author Posted August 8, 2002 As stated before, I have no clue on how to make it mod compatible as I dont use it. If you can tell me who to contact about it, maybe I will. Download
funny_dude0 Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 You should contact quamosity or darth nasty for mod compatible hilts. They can probably help you.
