Curantil
Hello, I'm trying to set up a dedicated server on a win2000 machine. That machine is behind a linux firewall that uses ipforwarding for the pc's in my intern network. How should I alter the iptables-list so people outside my netwok can acces the server? I have a windows version of JKII. Can I use these files in combination with the linux-dedicated server files to run a linux dedicated server? Or has this linux-server also need for other linux files to run? Greets, Curantil
richard10101
i just red ya mail well i know why if you have a fire wall then they can not ping your machiene / transmit signals because you blocking them that is a purpose of a fire wall so you have to close your down and same vice versa ok cya soon my E-mail i also have msn
Curantil
But it is that I completly can configure my firewall. e.g.: I have ping-replies enabled. It is that I'm still new to configuring this firewall, so I'm looking for the right configuration to let the signals for the JKII-server pass the firewall. richard10101
well i dont use fire walls because of jk2 and if my system goes down nothing i can do about it but im willing to take that risk and another thing is they might have a fire wall so your blocking each other and your filewalls reason why i dont use them is because you have to block ip's manually and a lot of people have alternative ip's so you have to block ip's and allow ip's manually you cant configure it that way people can still by pass fire walls so i see no point of them i hope you fix it soon
Curantil
Can I conclude from this that nobody playing JKII has a home-network and a linux-firewall and is able to configure it properly? And that nobody knows other kinds of firewalls then these userfriendly/noflexebility firewalls like zonelabs & norton firewalls? Because iptables is some kind of programming language for firewalls/routers (on linux), so you can do almost everything in it. I guess there should be some linux-goeroes playing JKII or else there wouldn't be a linux-dedicated server. So, mighty JKII-playing linux genius, Please here my prayer and come to my aid. Greets to all,
