JK2 maps

Hi, I'm a Quake 3 mapper and I just recently changed to Jedi Knight 2. I have some questions about what JEdi Knight 2 can handle:

1. How big are most maps in JK2? Because I read the FAQ at the top and it said that most maps are bigger than 100K. Now that is huge. 100,000 by 100,000? The most I went to was 8,000 by 8,000. I probably misunderstood.

2. Will the func_breakable have many negative effects on the map?

3. Do the maps compile slower than Q3 maps?

4. Can I do single player maps? And how would I make objectives then?

Thanks in advance.

Raven provided us with a couple of the maps uncompiled for us to look at...

Kejim Post (first SP mission) is about 8000 by 9000 map units.

It is a little under 4 megs un-compiled.

ctf_bespin is about 3,000 by 8000 map units

and the .map file is 1.5 megs aprox.

not shure what kind of size exactly you are talking about but there are both i can think of.

I have a little (60k byte .map size) I made from Rich's tutorials, it compiles

in about a min and a half...it about big enough for a two person deathmatch.

ctf_bespin took about 7 min to compile on my computer.

yes you can do SP maps  I dont know how to do objectives yet either...

I'm not even shure there is an objective system per say, it might all just be

triggered events.

Hope some of that helps you

Thanks a lot, the map unit measurement was what I was looking for. So most maps don't go over 8K.
