Hi all, I'd like the general public's opinion on how Masters of the Force should be released. Should we go with a bunch of smaller releases showing the slow progress of our implimentation or go with a much slower "release at major Milestones only"? In case you haven't heard of the Mod yet, the main thread and description is here. We don't have a website yet as I'm ODing on html with the FAQ.

Thanks for your input,

Smaller releases tend to be more progressive. You get plenty of feed back from people actually giving suggestions. Bugs to work on, new things to add.

When you throw out a big development, you spend most of your time working on what's wrong with the current verison, not working toward the next. Feedback on these is usually bitching and moaning, rather than constructive critizism.

That's all in my experience, anyway.

This is a difficult decision, there are pros and cons to each one. However, I think the best choice would be smaller, more frequent releases, rather than bigger, slower releases. Not only do you get to publicly test the modification, but you also get suggestions, and opinions, which can help you to better improve the modification. And at the same time, it proves to your fans that you are working on the modification, since slower releases may make fans tired, impatient, and eventually, no matter how much you say it and update your site, they will think you are not working on the mod anymore and perhaps even lose interest after a while.

The cons to that however, is your releases will have most likely more bugs and less features, which may get much negative feedback and you may even lose some players because of it. So if you are to make this choice, you must be sure that you try to keep out as many bugs as possible.

With bigger, slower releases, you can cram more stuff into the mod every release, and you can take out more bugs. However, like I pointed out above, people become impatient and they lose interest - fast. This would definitely kill your mod player count.

In the end, the wiser choice is to gasp and yell at me for thinking that your modification could ever fail in any way :o:D
