Diving Platform help

I'm at the diving platform and i have tried to beat Marco De Pollo alot of times but i can never succeed and i need help!

One other thing in the hints it tells me to show the pamphlet i got from Stan to the fat judge, but when i do the judge asks me why i am showing it to him and Guybrush says "I don't really know"!!

Did you look at the pamphlet before you showed it to the judge but after he told you his story?
