Rammage
TIP: When you've generated your terrain and loaded into Radiant, select the terrain (now a func_group) and make it a detail brush (Ctrl + M). To prevent leaks, of course, you'll have to surround it with simple structural brushes. This will dramatically cut down the VIS compile time. This may seem obvious, but it wasn't to me when I first used it. I'm not even sure if this tip is in the tutorials.
Rammage
I don't think it's in JKII Radiant, but you can generate the terrain in the standalone version of Gensurf, save it in Quake 3 format, and load it into JKII Radiant as a prefab, I think. The standalone program can be downloaded here: http://www.3ddownloads.com/?file_id=44070
