Weapon Icons

Does anyone know what I have to do to get custom weapon icons (the icons at the bottom that show your inventory and stuff)? I made my own and made sure the background color was the same, but the icon was not transparent. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

for transparency to work you need to save it as a 32-bit .tga and include the proper alpha channel. i use Photoshop 6 and it works fine. when in the prgram change to the channels (where it shows layers) and add a new channel calling it "Alpha ". ths channel is what makes things transparent. black is what will be invisible and white will be opaque , grey translucent etc.
