It's shareware, except that they don't follow the guidelines of shareware. The registration process has some major bugs, so if you registered for an old version and then try to upgrade, your code doesn't work anymore... You have to email them w/ your info, and they supposively email you a new reg code.

Basically you're trying to run it w/out registering it, and that will not work. You need to register for it (and pay the $20) in order to use it after 30 days. Sorry.

What you download is called a DEMO version that from what I understand is fully functional for 30 days. Most demo are written to protect there product from being download multiple times on the same computer. I would just pay the twenty dollars...Or move on to gmax.

Yes, correct - the MS3D Demo will track from its install date and time, and ask you, and then after 30 days after that logged date (likely encrypted in a file or a registry key), it will expire and not work again.

I suggest just buying the real deal if you don't want to model in gmax (or 3ds max). But learning gmax/3ds max/lightwave etc. is worth the time; they are very robust modeling environments once one overcomes the learning curve. and gmax is free after registration, as is MS3D, so make a call and master one or both. I use 3ds max 4.2 with a few plugins to make the process rather painless.
