bizarr3
I downloaded the ninja skin a while ago, and thought, "How ****ing cool would it be to use this in single player?" But, single player doesn't support the /model command, and I didn't want to replace my Kyle in \base with the ninja, because I'd get kicked off of pure servers. Sooo, I made a mod (as in, new folder in \gamedata) where the ninja replaces Kyle. It worked, but my lightsaber is in my left hand! Now, most of the styles are useless. It did go back to my right hand, somehow, but that only lasted until the end of the level, and I have no idea how it happened. I'd appreciate some help on this one. bizarr3
You dip, I know how to change saber styles. It's not that. It's in the left hand!! It should be in the right hand.
Sutek
Cool! I'd love to be able to use my saber in my left hand (being a lefty meself). On the possible solving side - have you tried using guns? Do they appear in your left hand too? If so, then check the variable Q3 uses to set weapon hands, since it could be that (somehow) this has been changed.
bizarr3
No, no! The saber is in the left hand! The swings are done with the right hand! That means that only the overhand swings to any damage, otherwise, the saber barely hits them. Come on, I wish someone knew what they were talking about. Help me out! Sutek
Look, if you're going to be insulting then I'll take my quite voluntary attempts to help elsewhere and you can fix the problem your bloody self. Cease acting like a child. I have not seen or heard of any problem like this, and I spend an awful lot of time on the Tech Support boards. So you probably WON'T find anyone who "knows" what they are talking about. Now, did you even TRY my suggestion? Probably not. Do so. My point was that the game animations are designed to *assume* the saber is in the right hand, and the saber is a separate game object from the model. The result is that the saber could theorectically be placed in the left hand, but the animations would not take this into account. Thus only the overhead swings (or those which use both hands) would incoporate the left hand into the swing. This is ALL theory mind, and not necessarily fact. Remember we DON'T have to answer your queries, so if you want help treat us with some respect - or you may find yourself ignored.
bizarr3
Ok, look, genius. I've had extensive experience with the Q3 engine, being nearly pro in Q3 myself. Not only did I try your "solution," but I knew beforehand that it wouldn't work. The command is only for first person, and does not affect which hand it's actually in, only which hand it appears to be in to yourself. Think back to the last time someone played a game with their gun in their left hand, and it appeared that way to everyone else. Never. The player model and the hand that you see in first person view are completely unrelated.
Sutek
As you wish Mr. Pro Quake3. I tried to help, you not only threw it back in my face but decided to treat me like a moron. I didn't know what experience you had. I also have not seen or heard of this error before. I was willing to help but that was apparently just not good enough for you. Goodbye, have fun solving your problem.
