Newbie frustration!

I keep getting those "areaportal number blah-blah-blah does not touch two areas" in reference to an area portal for a room with only one way in.

I know this is caused by an "internal leak," i.e. a leak in the room that theoretically allows another way around the portal and therefore causes both sides of the portal to be in the same area. The problem is I've gone over the room again and again, and damn if it doesn't look sealed to me! I see no exposed caulk, no gaps, nothing, but obviously there has to be a leak somewhere. Am I right, or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely?

I realize it's hard to give advice on such a general question, but I'm so lost on this one that I don't really know what sort of specific question to ask. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sam

Make sure that your areaportal is exactly 1 unit thick! (Note that this is NOT the same thing as "1 block thick". Press 1 in Radiant to switch to gridsize 1, and make your areaportal brush exactly 1 unit thick.

If it already is... *shrugs* You can usually tell when this is the case, because when you look at the areaportal, you get HOM. (Caused by the fact that looking through two areaportals at once causes this, and when the areaportal is more than 1 unit thick, it counts as two AP's right next to each other)

also, make sure that all the brushes around the area portal are structural, and that the area portal touches them all.

and make sure that the area portal doesn't extend past the outer brushes into the void. if it touches the void it will cause hom.
