I know everyone says that there are no "cheats" for this game, but can anyone confirm that there are GameShark codes that work? I have seen some postd on other sights but don't want to part with teh $50 for a GS unless it will work. Any help at all is appreciated, hence the name "Shaky_Sith". For Metal Gear Solid, the only cheat code I got to work is the walk through walls cheat, yet I can't get any other cheats to work, like never reload and the level 100 key card. When I do use the other codes, it always freezes when I get to the elevator that takes you to where the DARPA Chief(Decoy Octopus). So, I've got three questions: 1)Why won't any other cheats work on mine? 2)Can codes for a 3.2 version work on a 2.3 version? and 3)Why does my game freeze up with some cheats? Depends, some codes only work for a certain model or higher. 3. Some codes do this to your PlayStation. Figure out which one did it and don't use that one. Sort of a "It hurts when I do this." In some no. But there are a few cases where the 2.3 gameshark doesn't have the ability to process the information that the 3.2 is able to. Say you have a 2.3 GS, and it was made in 1999. You also have a 3.2 gameshark that was made in 2000. If you enter a type of code that wasn't thought of until the 3.2 came out, it will not work on the 2.3. See what I mean? 3)See 1 or 2. If you have problems with freezing, it may be because your doing either 1 of those things, or maybe both. If you don't know you can find out at cmgsccc.com I need to know a little more than just the version your using. How 'bout the exact codes your using, GS version codes were tested for, maybe even your PSX model number. It's when I had the all items cheat it froze at the evelator that takes you toe were the DARPA Chief and Meryl are. THanks to the cheats, I'm about to face Psycho Mantis(yes, I did save). Guest Weasel Posted August 9, 2000 Share Posted August 9, 2000 There seems to be some sort of rating since if you watch all the credits a "Score" screen comes up listing how many times you saved, enemies killed, continues, etc etc. At the bottom it says "items used..." You obtain certain levels like dragon, leopard, hyena and I was just wondering if using a stealth item lowered your level since it makes the game easier.
