doesnt work

the game doesnt run at all after I install it..

 

I have mac os 9.2

400mhz G4

loads of ram

loads of HD space

and the standard rage 128 graphics card.

 

is the graphics card the problem?

 

can I run JK2 with this card?

 

can I download updates to use this card?

 

where from?

 

if I have to buy a card, what should I get?

 

is ATI Radeon or GeForce Nvidia better?

 

is Radion mainly mac and GeForce Nvidia mainly PC?

I have exactly the same spec. as you and JKII runs fine.

G4 400Mhz Mac OS 9.2

Rage 128 Graphics card

loads of disk space

384MB RAM

 

On the box it says under Mac OS 9.1(or later) virtual memory (VM) should be turn on. I tried to give JKII loads of RAM without using VM but the game wouldn't load at all. So try this first.

 

Your video card is a 16MB graphics card the newer cards have more memory 32MB, 64MB etc. Just alter the video settings in the game to get best game play. I put the resolution on the lowest setting 680x480(or something like that) and put the colour depth to 32bit.

 

The minimum requirement for the game is a 400MHz processor, and seen as thats just about what you and I have, I wouldn't go buying a new graphics card just yet - a new dual 1GHz Mac should do the trick.

I didnt get the chance to alter screen res etc as it wouldnt run at all

 

I was running 9.0.2 so to run the game i needed at least 9.1

 

I updated to 9.2 and still wouldnt work, then found a 'Carbon Lib 1.6' update, installed this, and it runs fine.

 

not sure what this CarbonLib 1.6 update does or did, but that was the problem..

 

yeah, if I keep res lowish- I can live with it, rather than shelling out £150 for a radeon 32, or £250 for radeon 64....

 

now all I need is a broadband connection............
