I found more inconsistencies

I basically followed the "create a base folder on your c:\drive" method. I installed the jk2 tools there as well, resulting in a c:\base\tools folder and my model stuff is in the base\models\etc directory.

1.) some say put carcass and assimilate in the base folder, some say put it in the base\tools folder. I found one that even said put carcass in the model directory. which is it?

2.) some say put the root.xsi of the model you created in the base/models/players/yourmodel folder, and some say put it in the base/models/players_humanoid folder. which is it?

3.) for the assimilate preferences, some say leave the enum file path blank, some say put in the gamesource/anims.h path. which is it?

4.) for the assimilate preferences, some say put c:\base in the quake direcory path, some say leave it blank. which is it?

5.) some say in assimilate to use add/files to add the _humanoid.gla file then hit the "B" button to compile, others say open a modified model.car file using file/open and then hit the B button to compile. which is it?

6.) in relation to #5, if the root.xsi file is in the humanoid directory, does the line from the model.car file need to point to the humanoid directory or the mymodel folder e.g. "$aseanimconvertmdx_noask models/players/mymodel/root -makeskin -smooth "?

thanks again!! I will get to the bottom of this I swear

1) i just put it all in the base folder

2)in the end, in order to assimilate it properly, you must put it in the humanoid folder along with the humanoid.gla

3)i leave enum path blank

4)just put c:\base

5)they both do the same thing.

6)dont worry about the model.car file -it would point to wherever the xsi file is, and i say put it in the humanoid folder.
