It is quite ironic, how when a person adept at the force is trained as a jedi, he is sworn to only fight in self-defence. Yet Obi-Wan wouls have lost, had he not had the vengeance inside him of his fallen master. The dark side gave him the will, for a split second, to cut Maul down to size.
