Darth Massacator
Well I finally got a cable connection and went online to dogfight for the first time since XWA was released. Needless to say I got my arse handed to me. Aside from varying speed and constantly moving, does anyone have any tips for dogfighting? A long time ago I was told if you hosted the game, you're at a disadvantage. Is this still true? Not looking for an excuse, just curious. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Keyan Farlander
Not sure about the hosting thing, but one thing that helps a lot is having a joystick with a "twisty handle" so that you can roll your craft while turning left and right, and so on. When you two are heading toward one another, go into a roll, so you're harder to hit. Also, I find not linking your lasers at all helps at a distance, while linking them is better at close range. And another thing - if you have a throttle on your joystick, it's better not to use it. Use the keyboard and have one finger on the full throttle button and one on the 1/3 throttle button. When you need to turn your craft, hit the 1/3 throttle button, turn fast, and right away hit the full throttle button. This will allow you to turn as quickly as possible without losing a lot of speed. These are just some things that work for me. Hope they help. Darth Massacator
I probably should've mentioned that yes I do have rudder controls and knew about the 1/3 speed turn. I rarely use quad's unless I'm right on their 6 o'clock. He was a clan player, but still ....that guy handed out a serious can of arse whoopin' on me. I'll try using the keyboard to control my speed next time and see if that helps. Thanks for the tips!
