SP misc_model problem in JK2 Radiant

I am wanting to make some custom .md3 models to use in my level. Of course it has problems the first try, so I decided to test my procedure by using .md3 files provided in the game. When i set the value of the model key of the misc_model to

map_objects/ships/x_wing.md3

and

map_objects/bespin/streetlight.md3

nothing happens.

I am using JK2Radiant. When I play the BSP they are not visible at all. Then when I re-open Radiant and the map, it gives an error saying it cant find either md3

 

Also, in some earlier tests I had an XYZ origin marker (an icon typical in 3D modelling packages) looking like it was serving as a proxy for the actual models. This was when I was testing with a custom made model.

 

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Check those paths. If I remember correctly, you should start with the subfolder "models" and go down the path. The models should be visible in JK2Radiant right away, after you have entered the path correctly. And they stay visible if set so in the view menu settings.
