jobmanmi
Hey, has anyone been able to run the Infernal Machine on Win XP. The Lucasarts website says it isn't supported, but does anyone know any tricks?
nd
No, doesn't run on XP. First it seems to run, but soon a lot of problems happen, mostly with the inventory. I have a dual-boot installation with Windows ME in parallel.
Commander Venus
I'm running Infernal Machine on Windows XP Pro. with no problems at all. Who's saying it doesn't work?
jobmanmi
Maybe it just doesn't work on XP Home... You aren't using any special settings on XP Pro to get the game running?
Commander Venus
No special settings whatsoever. Strange...

nd
Skiny, in your other post you're talking about weapon problems. I encountered inventory problems. This is what I mean, the game won't run smoothly in Windows XP, although first it seems to be OK.

Commander Venus
What kind of problems exactly? I'm using WinXP Pro and have no problems at all. I've nearly beaten the game without running into any problems so far.

Laser Eyes
I played the Infernal Machine through twice from beginning to end on Windows XP Home with no problems at all. Worked better than my old Windows 98 computer. Laser Eyes
paparandy
Laser Eyes; Which video card, driver and version of DirectX are you using. I can get the game to install but on the opening scene, Indy says, " let's get to work", slides down the side of the cliff and then it goes to a blue sky shot. It then freezes up there. I hit esc and the select an option taskbar comes across the screen. I then try to change to the menu and it goes back to the desktop. It will not run at all. I had seen someone mention changing the registry through regedit for the game to run in XP but no details were given. Any ideas?? Skiny
thats one Problem to. Change the res or the 16 to 32 bit color or both this works. this is done within the game not windows.
jobmanmi
I have experienced the same results as Paparandy - I have a feeling that the game runs largely depending on which particular configuration of video card, motherboard, etc. each has. Laser Eyes
Here are my system specs: ASUS A7V266-E Socket A DDR AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 2 x 256MB Kingmax PC2100 DDR-SDRAM 40GB IBM Deskstar 60GXP 7200 RPM ASUS V8200 64MB Geforce 3 Ti500 Deluxe Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer Plextor PlexWriter PX-W2410TA 24/10/40A Sony 19" CPD-G420 Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Logitech Cordless Freedom Optical Microsoft Windows XP Home I don't remember which driver I was using at the time. I reinstall Windows every few months and I always install the latest detonator drivers that have WHQL certification. I do recall that Infernal Machine will not work with every driver so it does make a difference which driver you are using. If you can't get it to work with one driver try others. Direct X is version 8.1 I believe. It's just the version that comes on the Windows CD as I have never updated it. Hope this helps.
