Gremlin
I need help. You see, I’ve got a good imagination, in fact, I have a great imagination with pretty frilly bits on the edges. So I’ve got a wonderful idea for Jedi Knight II mod. But unfortunately I can’t make maps, at all. I’m so awful that I’m bewildered by triggers on Warcraft III! So I need someone who can not only make a decent map, but also tweak engines. The tweaks will include: Time: I’ll need time to pass. At what rate will come later. Terrain effects are secondary so it won’t matter if at midnight the sun is shining. Alignment: Between Light and Darkside. This will be effected by certain decisions and what force powers you use and how frequently. E.g. if you use Lightening all the time you go toward the darkside and if you use force absorb then you go towards lightside and neutral force powers have no effect. Also if in a situation you decide to kill him because he wont give you an object, instead of doing something he want, you’ll go to the darkside. This will affect what jobs you can take and guilds you can join. It might also affect the ending… Cash: I need the player to be able to gain, store and spend cash. As simple as that. Guilds and work: I want some work, which will be minor quests, and guilds which will give you a steady flow of income provided you do a quest every so often. Some quests will give you a limited amount of time to complete them. You will only be able to be in one guild at a time but you can have multiple jobs going. For some guilds there will be a required alignment. Merchants: You can use your cash to buy stuff. Enemies will drop weapons, but if you want the really “interesting” stuff you going to have to fork out the cash. Some merchants might be doctors who can heal wounds for cash but fast. Travel: In between missions where you have to go to a one off map, you’ll be able to set your affairs in order between 3 or more planets (this depends upon how the mod develops). Also you might have to go and look for the next part of the quest between the planets. It’ll take time to get to each planet, although you wont see this. The more money you pay the faster the ship you’ll travel and the shorter the journey. Talking: I need the player to go up to people and talk to them. Some passers by might only “Leave me alone” but I want the player to talk to anyone. It’ll just be typed out below; no actual “voices” are needed. Like in Planescape Torment. Skins: I need for guns and people. This is going to be set before episode I so guns are going to look different. Also there are going to be lots of new people walking around so new skins are needed as well. Sleep: This will be a free way of healing your self at the expense of time. You can only sleep in certain place though. Also when you’re travelling you automatically sleep. Force meter: This will monitor how much the force is disturbed. Basically whether or not an enemy is close. The meter should go wild when approaching a Fallen Jedi Firstly can it be done and secondly how long will it take if doable? Story line: Jedi’s Redemption It is 38 years before the events in episode I. Recently there has been a campaign to turn Jedi to the darkside. Before the Jedi could stop this a few of the Jedi fell under the sway of the darkside. Some the Fallen Jedi have been tracked to the Kedest system. You, a promising newly appointed Jedi Knight are sent to investigate exactly where the Fallen Jedi are, and why, and if possible to bring them back into the fold. You have just arrived listening outpost friendly to the Jedi on the moon of Ragas VI in the Kedest system… As for units (since its et before episode I) Stormtropper: Droid Stormtropper with funny orange bit on shoulder: Silver droids form Episode II Officer: Destroyer droids AT-ST: Those four legged droids from episode II Any questions? mace_sundancer
the four-legged walker in attack is called an AT-TE, all terrain tactical enforcer, and is not going to exist at the time your on about since it was built for the clone army to use... Gremlin
No, the four-legged thing on the droid army, NOT the clone army
mace_sundancer
http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/dwarfspiderdroid/index.html this? or http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/homingspiderdroid/index.html this? you said AT-ST so i thought you were referring to the clone armies walkers. and i still think they wouldn't be aruond in your time frame... Gremlin
The first one was what I had in mind, but if they were both outside my time line then it dosen't make much difference. Know of any tank sort of units for my time line?
mace_sundancer
nope. because not much is known about then...the chronicled time periods are for 4000 years before A New Hope (freedon nadd uprising, the sith war etc.), then about twenty years before TPM, with the Jedi Apprentice books starring young obi-wan, then the time of TPM and AOTC and then the time from ANH to the new jedi order. plus there's some stuff about han and lando in different novels from ppost episdoe 3 to pre ANH time...you'd be able to make stuff up, just don't try using AATs or those spider-droids or anything... [edit and by the way, if by 'those silver droids from episode 2' you mean the super-battle-droid with the arm mounted laser cannon, they wouldn't be around then either, they were only built after the battle of naboo...you could also of course create your own battledroid-type enemies...but you should use original concepts i think... i hope you don't think i'm being a spoilsport, i'm just trying to help you out and keep you within continuity. i think you're much better off making up you're own stuff for the enemy units...]
Gremlin
I think it'll be fun inventing new skins etc etc. And you are only doing what I asked you to do, so criticise away! But would like some apart from your good self to take an intrest and help me make this damn thing instead of talk about it!!!
