decrypting demos?

just wondering if it's possible to extract the movement codes from a recorded demo into a text file?

 

e.g. +back; +attack;-back;-attack etc etc

 

If you look at a demo file in a text editor the data appears compiled or encrypted, but there must be some way to reverse it?
