Guest jake
I just realized something today.. The legend goes that whoever drinks from the grail will be granted immortality. Not that they must continue drinking like doses of medication. Indiana took a sip from the grail. That's all he'd need to achieve immortality. Hmmm.. ~Jake "That is the price of immortality"
Guest Blair
I'll have to watch Last Crusade again to be sure (ToD and LC are okay, but only Raiders deserves to be worn out, IMO), but didn't the rest of it stipulate you couldn't leave the valley or you'd revert to your true age and mortal status? I.e., the bazillion-year-old Templar would instantly become a bazillion years old--and crumble to dust--if he quit his post? --Blair "That is the price of immortality." Guest FotTrigger
I think you got that wrong... The Templar didn't leave because it was his duty to stay there....thing is, you are not allowed to leave the temple with the grail or it would collapse and the grail would be lost (as seen on LC). Therefore I agree, I also think Indy (and his father) are immortal now. ------------------ <<<Fottrigger>>> "What is this? Sounds like steppin' on popcorn!" Guest jake
Yeah. It was simply you couldn't bring the grail past the seal in the temple. Jones Jr and Sr should both be immortal.
Guest Dan
Once you leave the temple, the effects of immortality end. If you listen to Indy speak when he's talking to Donovan for the first time in the movie, when he's talking about the three knights of the First crusade, One died in the desert, the other two found the grail, one left and "Before dieing of EXTREME old age" he told his tale to a Frair. Watch that part again and you will get it.
Guest Shaggiana Joe
Well, if you really want to get technical here, you could look to the Indy novels and other fictious media. Jones Sr. died at 110 after being in intensive care for 15 years, and Indy lived on because as long as he didn't get hit by a car or something happen to him that would kill him, he would be immortal. Didn't you hear the Knight say something about Indy coming to "vanquish" him and take his place? He wanted Indy to kill him so he could go to heaven so he wouldn't have to watch that infernal cup for another thousand years. The first Knight that died, died on his way back through a desert. The other knight got sick and slowly died from old age. So yes, Indy's immortal, but he still ages. That's why he's a senile old man in the Young Indy chronicles telling his story to less senile people. Anyway, Indy's being immortal is great, but I hope he finds the fountain of youth sometime in the near future. Otherwise, the next time he goes on an adventure, he'll have to leave his whip to make room for his economy sized adult diapers. ------------------ I'm just like Indy... if he were a pimp. -Shaggy

Guest Rieekan
I could be wrong, but I read somewhere that you had to constantly drink from the Grail in order for it to keep you immortal. Thus, Indy just restored his health when he drank it. The reason why the knight was so old was because he lost faith several times, and he couldn't drink from it. I think this is all from the novelization.
Guest HenryJones
The knight clearly says that Indy chose wisely, though he could not take the grail across the great seal because that's where it's powers ended. He said that the price of immortality was the fact that you couldn't cross the seal and remain immortal, watch the film, see for yourself. -Dr. Henry Jones Sr. "I didn't think you'd sell your country and your soul, to the slime of humanity. ." Guest Dan
Fianally. Someone got it right. Once you cross the seal, the powers leave you. To be immortal means that you can't die. The knight that told his story to the friar, died. That means he's not imortal. It says he died. If he died, he can't be imortal. The Knight at the temple, was aging, but stayed alive because he stayed in the temple. Watch the film, you'll get it. Dan
