Smellincoffee
I finally got GB Friday. I've had Age of Kings for a few months, so I'm used to the tech levels and general gameplay. So far I prefer to play as the Confederacy, reasons uncertain. I just like `em. Are there any in-depth strategies out there for each civ, and for the Confederacy in particular? I've been doing searches for it,. but all I can find is general strategy for all the civs, or places like GB Heaven. Search engines spit out twenty links to the offiicial web site. So can anyone help me?
pbguy1211
confederacy strategies? get the trooper upgrades from the research center in tech 4. learn how to use the geonosian warriors in t3 and t4. the civs are pretty much all the same with a few differences. just know what is best for what, and what is a good counter for other stuff. AlliedCommander
This also goes for the tf/empire/gungans. As the confeds, don't be afraid to use their air. They are just as good as the others when it comes to attacking defenseless units. But since they are without shields, don't use them like if you were an air power. Just maybe a squadren of bombers to take out an asualt mech group that forgot you could build air. As long as they underestimate your air, its possible to be sucessful with them. The above i typed without their unique unit in consideration. thats a diff. story.
Smellincoffee
It said in the manaul I got that the Confederacy has the best troopers, so I try to capatalize on that by building multiple troop centers in T2 and researching upgrades. I read on a website that Confederate air costs 25% more and takes 25% longer to build. I try to diminish this effect by using around four airports. Speaking of which, is the AOK strategy of building tons of troop centers, shipyards, castles, and other structures that produce units still intact? I've been watching recorded games (mostly from SiTH) and I've only seen them build multiple Jedi temples so far...
pbguy1211
for the confeds multiple jedi temples are fairly pointless. all the civs are pretty much the same until t4. in t4 you can make your troops stronger
AlliedCommander
Yes i'd say its intact. As ridiculous as it can be. I mean, what guy in their right mind would be the republic (with 50% faster trooper(stanard class) production) and still have 16 troop centers at one time? And yes I saw this in a recorded game and it was 16. i guess games usually don't involve so many building, so i think its an extreme case.
pbguy1211
depends where the troop centers are. if there are 16 all together, that's dumb. if they're scattered, that's different
AlliedCommander
There were some in the top of his base, but there were about 10 that could fit on the screen at one place.
pbguy1211
well. that's pretty wasteful. unless it's in your enemies base.
Admiral Vostok
It's 5% penalties to air, not 25%. For some unknown reason that I'll never get over, Confederacy has worse air than Gungans.
lukeiamyourdad
No Confed hae better air because of their geonosian warriors. Trade fed air is the wost. Nevertheless, remember that both a civ's weakness and strenghts can be exploited. In that case, use element of surprise to gain the upper-hand.
