level 3 crash at elevator

I'm on level 3, just gone down river on raft, picked up first candle and when Indy goes up in elevator he gets half way up, the camera pans back and the game hangs. The SFXs keep playing though. Any suggestions?

I have a Pentium 2 400, 128 meg ram, Monster 2, W98se, SBLive,+ patched Indy game.
