Fury-scr@ch Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 Ok, hi guys! I'm starting with mappin so I'm a pretty newbie still. I use GTK Radiant 1.2.13(stable version) for JK2 and installed the tool packs I.&II. My JK2 Version is: 1.04 Well I used some pretty good tutorials but there doesn't seem to exist a solution for my map... Well created two rooms with 2 doors with a little hall between them with some textures from jk2 and placed a few objects to get a bit experience. The .map file is 30 kb btw. And now the problem: If I try to compile the map, this error appears: The connection timed out, assuming the BSP process failed. Make sure you are using a networked verion of Q3Map?Otherwise you need to disable BSP Monitoring in prefs. Hapilly i can still play the map, the .bsp file is 96 kb. Well I read that there should be probs with maps under 100kbs but a ERROR? WHAT THE HELL DID I DO WRONG?
Karshaddii Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 It gave you an error about the BSP process, yet it still created a BSP and you can play on it--correct?
Fury-scr@ch Posted April 9, 2003 Author Posted April 9, 2003 yeh... correct. but the map is very bright don't know why. should i place lights, btw.?
Leslie Judge Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 This happens if you use the old compile options from the bottom of the BSP menu. If you wanna use them, then go to Edit \ Prefernces and disable BSP monitoring. Better if you use the Q3Map2 compile options. Those with (test) in their names. In this case you don't have to disable the BSP monitoring option.
Fury-scr@ch Posted April 9, 2003 Author Posted April 9, 2003 Man thank u very much 4 help, Leslie! Mhh, this thing is running for hours, hope there's gonna be a success message!
Leslie Judge Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 I do. You know I do. I hate everybody. Why would you be an exception? j/k
