You have to have the surfaceparm trans in the shader code, and the texture has to have an alpha channel (.tga file).

 

Or... you can probably use the AlphaGen command with a value close to 0.0... say 0.2. I'm not sure about this, because never tried it. It can be that even the syntax I gave you is wrong. I could use it in some shaders so I'll try to use it soon.

 

Besides these you have to map the texture with the alpha channel. I sugges checking out a glass shader.
