Dello Posted April 30, 2003 Posted April 30, 2003 Hi Can anyone here explain to me the process in which a mod is created? -Thanks
Dello Posted April 30, 2003 Author Posted April 30, 2003 Well anything really, what sort of programs do you use? How do you get to parameters in the game? Where do you edit the textures? That sorta thing.
razorace Posted April 30, 2003 Posted April 30, 2003 uh, that's a very huge question, but I mod the game code. Basically, you change the "MP source code" to change the MP gameplay. Personally I use Visual Studios .net to do my coding but it's doable (but very hard) with a simple txt editor.
aazell Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 What a dodgy answer! Mate. Go through RichDiesals tutorials. http://richdiesal.jedioutcastmaps.com/tutorials/ or at least just the basic one's. It's good fun and it will teach you how to make new levels and Mods and lot's of other good stuff. By the way it's a fairly big undertaking to make a mod. I recommend that you try making a few maps then start looking at somthing bigger. It's a learning experiance and you'll find out how great games like JK2 work. Good luck. Aaz
razorace Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 It's a dodgy answer because I've found that newbies tend to want all the answers from the community elders without researching the subject first.
Dello Posted May 1, 2003 Author Posted May 1, 2003 Without research? My dear boy, that's the whole idea of the forums. If you've been here for the past 4 years or so you would of noticed that. I do believe the description of this forum contains "general questions" in it, and on a subject like this who wouldn't have questions. If you want chit-chat you can go to MSN. It's like they say, "There is no expert without a beginner."
razorace Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 That's not excuse for not looking thru the threads before asking questions.
razorace Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 That's still no excuse for not looking thru the threads before asking questions.
