Rychean
I know this is probably not the place to put this but I need a little help. I'm having serious issues while playing SWG. I lock up and my sound goes haywire and I have to reset my machine to get anywhere. This happens in the cities mainly but it has occured while I've been running around in the desert as well. I've looked on the technical boards and see some other people having the problem but there isn't anyone reccomending anything. Is anyone having this issue and if so are there any workarounds for this? My pc is not the greatest in the world but is perfectly capable of running SWG without a hitch. I'm within specs. Pentium III 933 512 memory Geforce 4200 TI 128 meg video card I've disabled my page file so SWG is using RAM only and not virtual memory. I've set my Direct X 9 sound down to basic and got my graphics on the game to a minimum. I ran ok yesterday with minimal problems but before that I was having the problems. After the patch this morning the problem came back. If anyone has had this problem and has a fix for it I would greatly appreciate some help. Urge
Why would you disable your page file? Is that supposed to increase performace? Cause I increased mine by 1GB thinking that would help the lag as I only have 256MB ram.

Rychean
Actually, I was locking up before that. I have since realized, in my frustration, that I wasn't thinking too clearly about the page file. I am however still having issues with the whole locking up thing. Now that we have the page file out of the way is anyone having this issue and do they have any ideas what could be causing it? Mujahid
Ok, we're all clear on the page file mistake Once you get that reestablished, check to see if the locking up happens at any particular interval of time (something like "every 5 minutes" or "every 10 minutes", or "each day at around 3:30pm", etc). The problem you are experiencing COULD be related to temperature. If your particular case doesn't vent heat well, and you don't have enough CPU fans/Vid card fans, etc., then your system could be overheating. When that happens, all SORTS of nasty things begin happening, and the system becomes unstable and unpredictable. If you don't believe you are having temperature-related problems, visit the website of your motherboard manufacturer and see if there is a new BIOS update. If there is, make sure you have the latest BIOS. Once you check that, head over to Windows Update and make sure you have all of the latest critical/Windows updates. Check the following also: 1. Latest vid card drivers 2. Latest sound board drivers 3. Latest device drivers for any other peripherals that are functioning while playing SWG. Something else you can check: Make sure your memory is in a proper configuration (i.e. make sure you're not attempting to mix two disimilar types of RAM.... a long shot since the system shouldn't boot with a bum configuration, but I've seen stranger things happen). For example, you may have 2 DIMMS each running at a different clock speed, etc.
Rychean
Well, The problem could have very well been overheating but my vid card, processor and case all have fans. Just for a little overkill I popped the side panel and stuck a floor fan right up to it so I'm circulating quite a bit of air through there. I also increased my pagefile a bit and I played for quite some time last evening with only one hang. The hangs weren't occuring at any particular time. Usually when I was in the city. I'm going to be playing alot this weekend so I'll figure it out then. Thanks for the all the help.

morfheas
Did you try turning the graphics settings in the game all the way down to the minimums? I was running a Pen IV 1.6 GHZ, 384 RAM, 64MB Radeon 7500 and the game ran good with all minimal settings, but I would lock up in the city quite a bit. Since yesterday I upgraded ram to 768 and put in a 128 Radeon 9600 Pro card. SWG runs like a champ now, I have all my setting turned three quarters of the way and I never have any choppy or lagged game play.
