Questions about SWGB

I am a huge star wars fan and have played lots of AOE and Starcraft. Although I like AOE better than Starcraft, I must admit that sometimes the armies in AOE move a little too slow for my liking. Do you think this game will be any faster? I would like to see air units move fast much like wraiths in SC (As far as speed goes). I know AOE is a great game, and even in they dont change anything SWGB is gonna be the best. But I do hope they make this aspect of the game a little more like SC.

Hiya porkins, and welcome! :)

Although I've not played AoK much I do know what you mean. I don't think anyone here knows for sure how fast the units move. I do hope the air units move faster then their ground counterparts. We'll probably find out today when the demo comes out

You could pick the speed rate? Are you talking about how fast you build or how fast you actually move?

BTW Whats your avatar?

I know you could change speeds in AOE, but I never played multiplayer. What speed is multiplayer?? Can you choose?? I just felt that in AOE you couldnt rush like Starcraft. Sending a group of militia just isnt as effective as a group of marines. hopefully in this game, rushing will be in effect because of quicker troops

Actually, depending on the units, you could rush in AOE 2 and kick some tail.

The Goths are extremely fast, building militia troops at a faster rate and less the cost. The Mayans could do the same with archers.

AOE 2 does play slower than Starcraft, and I know that you could change the speed of whatever game you were playing. Still, the game just played slower - that's the way it was designed.

Want a free rushgin tactic? Build a barracks just oustide the rim of their base as soon as you are able.

i agree totally with porkins, and I hope to see many different bounty hunters throught the SW universe. I also think it would be pretty cool if there was a Black Sun type of civ, with Xizor and company. I understand that a lot of the stuff from the books isnt orignal SW canon, but I think the more characters the better!!!! The thought of seeing Thrawn leading a group storm troopers into battle gives me the chills!!!!! Not too mention seeing Lando running around and hopefully seeing him get eaten by that damn Sarlacc................"I THOUGHT YOU WAS BLIND!!!!!!!" I cant wait for this game!

I'm talking about the speed of the whole game, if you know what I mean. Like, the speed of movement, production, research, well, the whole game. It's useful for like, giving you time during management (telling villagers to build, assigning research, etc.), and to rush the game a bit when you want your army to get there. As you get more experienced, though, you'll just leave it on "Fast" most of the time.

Yes, you can choose, altough the host can decide to pick one speed for the game and lock it.

It's an Eternal Knight from Dominions, which is a nice freeware fantasy-strategy game. I picked him because he looks like a Jedi (actually, that's not a lightsaber he carries, but a Fire sword). (http://www.illwinter.com).
