Return to Peru.....Been here for hours....please help

I'm totally stuck...I'm in the section where I put the bamboo stick in the idol's mouth, but can't get out of the room, forward or backwards. Everytime I try to jump the chasm, I fall short and the huge boulder falls on me, ending the game....any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks.

Go back out to the room where Indiana Jones took the idol several years ago. Turn and go into a small tunnel immediately to your left. This will take you to the bamboo.
