Guest barbndave Posted December 27, 1999 Share Posted December 27, 1999 Our computer locks-up when we kill the Ice Guardian using Urgon's part right after last treasure icon appears on the screen. F10 fixme does nothing to release Indy. When we press the space bar or 'enter' we immediately crash back to the desktop. We've already installed the patch and have adjusted the resolution (back down to 640x480x16bit) with no change. We are Direct X compatable, etc. Does any one have any ideas on how to fix this or is there a way around this glitch? We're stuck!! We've also tried quicksaving just before it freezes (as this fixes some camera/freeze problems) but that didn't work either. What kind of 3D card are you using? We're running a 16K Riva TNT with with an add on Voodoo2 with 8K. We think the bug may lie there even though the DX diagnostic program didn't identify any problems. Arragorn Posted December 28, 1999 Share Posted December 28, 1999 Ok, I talked with LucasArts and they gave me this patch to fix the problem. It's located at Ftp://ftp.lucasarts.com/patches/pc/1Beast.nds This will automatically download a game saved just after the ice monster is killed. Put the file into your saved game folder, then re-load Indy with this saved game. So, we don't get the pleasure of blowing the guy up, but at least we get to continue playing. Guest barbndave Posted December 28, 1999 Share Posted December 28, 1999 I found another way of getting around this problem from another indy forum (http://forums.infernalmachine.net/html/forum2/HTMLL/000243.html). There is a SAVE GAME ERROR somewhere in the ice sanctuary. You'll need to start from a game saved BEFORE you give the plant to the old lady -hope you've got one not too far back. Save the game, give her the plant, go into sanctuary and DO NOT SAVE or even QUICKSAVE your game until after you kill the ice guardian. We gave in and used god mode feeling that after 50 crashes we deserved it!! The screen will flicker when he dies but will not crash. PHEW!!
