save game lag introduced

I dont know if anyone has seen this single player bug before but I could use some suggestions.

 

Usually the quick-load function (loading the quick-save game) only takes about 5-10 seconds.

 

However just the other day I got hold of the disintegrator rifle in the bar (in level 8) and was playing around with it experimenting. I used the telescopic zoom and was at full zoom when I decided to carry on where I had last quick saved the game and hit the quick-load key (still in the zoomed scope view). Suddenly everything seemed to freeze and only after a good 5 minutes or so did anything happen.

 

Ever since then the quick load, instead of taking 5-10 seconds takes around 5 -10 minutes.

 

I have tried :

Logging out and back in to the game.

 

Rebooting.

 

Running the game and loading from a save game prior to being in the bar. (This still took 5 minutes or so).

 

Has anyone else seen this or have any ideas?

Thanks for the tip Bilbo. Looks like the people in that link of yours are having even worse trouble than me.

 

Anyway in case anyone experiences the particular problem I had with lag only being introduced by playing with the telescopic scope. The lag seems to go away once you have advanced to a new level. I have progressed in the game to the next level (Reelo's Hideout) and the lag problem seems to have totally stopped. Quickloads are back to being about 5 seconds.
