I favor the B-1b bomber most because it has a much lower pricetag than a B-2, but the aircraft has most of the same capabilities or better. It was mach capable, able to carry the same internal load as well as external, and its range is roughly the same.

It's not a stealth plane, but low observebillity and faster than the B-52, so it is the greatest balance of performance to aircraft cost. It is still restricted by the situation in today's warfare. That gets to the aircraft's bomb load not ever being required for a single target... it makes more sense to have a greater number of fighters that could attack many small targets instead of this one bomber concentrating on a small area.

Although fighters and bombers are very interesting pieces of equipment, they are becoming less required in the war of economies. The US has the largest military in the world and don't need half of what we keep operating. Would you agree?
