  1. Might be easy if you say where the server is located. (yes I know it's on the website)
  2. For performance Linux is always the better choice over Windows (proven fact). However if you've never worked with Linux and have no idea how to set it up properly I'd say go with Windows 2000.
  3. or you can use the \spWin command, which will make it that the camera turns around you.
  4. Have you seen how many people are on here at all times... and that with vBulletin which isn't known for it's efficientness when it comes to code.
  5. Cos Raven actually replies to email, unlike some other companies we know *cough*LucasArts*cough*
  6. Did you set the Source to Internet and press the Get New List thing?
  7. What he said Btw We've got our JK2 server and more are on the way
  8. I use the keypad. There are just enough keys there for JK2. Though I do have 5 buttons on my mouse
  9. It's true that the human eye can't see the difference between 30 and 100 FPS, but it can see big sudden changes in FPS. So if your framerate goes from 100 to 30 suddenly you will see it. As for the lagging in the swamp level. What video settings do you use?
  10. KP_SLASH KP_MINUS KP_HOME KP_UP KP_PGUP KP_LEFT KP_CENTER etc. If I'm not mistaken the * in the numpad is a normal *, so no KP_STAR or something.
  11. LSF (the Last Starfighters League) has several European units. The Empire alone has 2 European JK2 units (each of around 12 active members) and we're still getting new recruits. If you're interrested check our website: http://www.starfighters.com/lsf
  12. There really is no use in talking about this anyway, cos LEC is never going to pay anything for the development of a Linux client. It doesn't matter if it's easy or cheap or not, they just won't. They'd sooner release a mac client or an X-Box client than a Linux version. So unless someone at Raven makes a Linux client in their own time and confinces LEC not to sue the pants off of him, there won't any Linux client.
  13. As far as I can tell there is only 1 taunt per model. Other taunts, voices, etc have been left out of the game. I don't know why this was done and it sucks, cos even if you bind text messages to keys the text scrolls away to quickly for people to notice in the heat of battle.
  14. Just because they have an engine (for which they're paying a lot) doesn't mean the rest is easy or cheap. It might not be as much work as making a new 3D and physics engine, but it's not as easy as pressing a button.
  15. The play command will only play it for you, nobody else will hear it. I've tried other commands for sounds (vsay, vsay_team, vosay, vosay_team), but it seems they don't do anything in JK2. Also in Q3TA you're able to play sounds pretty easilly. I am not sure how it is done exactly, but it's something like: bind x "say "&sound/voice/comms/something.wav I have tried several things like this in JK2 and non seem to work. I'm afraid Ravensoft has removed these things
  16. In your line of reasoning the making of the Win32 version would be low cost and easy too because the engine already excists...
  17. There are a few dutch people in LSF (I'm one of them and there are at least 5 others). Most of them are in the Empire. http://www.starfighters.com/lsf
  18. This has to do with the up- and downstream capability. Every player on a server adds about 50kbit/s of data. I have cable with a 128kbit/s upstream (like alot of people). It's fast, but because of the limited upstream if I would have a server I could only have a maximum of 2 or 3 people on it. People seem to put 16 or 32 people servers on lines that can't handle that and complain about it blaming the netcode.
  19. It's harder than you make it sound. Yes, there is a Q3 for linux, but that doesn't mean you can have a JK2 for linux in a few hours. Plus this IS LucasArts we're talking about...
  20. Your force regenerates much quicker than JK1, so in my oppinion you don't need those force crystals in multiplayer. If there were any you'd only get more people who only use force and don't actually duel with the saber.
  21. I have cable and have no problems. Lag isn't just caused by bad pings. There are tons of factors that can cause lag. Your computer system is one of the most important factors. And just because LEC says it shouldn't be played with 56k modems doesn't mean it can't be played with 56k modems. I haven't seen it on a 56k modem, but I've heard it's perfectly playable if you've on a good server. Multiplayer is fun, but dueling can get boring pretty quickly for a lot of people. What I hope is that this game will get a big clan community that plays capture the flag and capture the ysalimiri against each other.
  22. Might be handy if you said where you want the server to be. I think most countries have ISPs where you can rent gaming servers. I'll post a few in Europe: http://www.clan-planet.de http://www.gamehost.at http://www.barrysworld.co.uk http://www.jolt.co.uk The best way to find out what ISPs are good for you is to play on their servers. A lot of times ISPs don't list that they have gaming servers on their websites. Just look in the server list in JK2. A lot of servers have internet addresses in the title.
  23. This is nothing new. It was posted here about a week ago I believe. And the dual bladed saber is just a normal saber with another blade attached to the bottom just for show anyway.
