  1. Duelers Mod 1.3.1 has 2 lightsabers, dual-bladed lightsabers (saber staff like Darth Maul), or even 2 dual-bladed lightsabers. The blades have individually adjustable colors and multiple hilts are available. The mod also has a jetpack and grappling hook, cartwheels, and bots will accept duel challenges. Get it here: http://www.jk2files.com/file.info?ID=17995
  2. I have updated the server to Duelers Mod 1.3.1, get it here: http://www.jk2files.com/file.info?ID=17995 Remember, you must unzip the file, THEN PLACE THE ENTIRE "DUELERS" FOLDER IN YOUR "GAMEDATA" FOLDER. Do not take the .pk3 files out of the Duelers folder. Instead of the beta version of Griffinclaw's Jedi Council map, use the final version: http://www.jk2files.com/file.info?ID=13791 The link for Little Italy that Lindsey listed has a typo. This is the correct link: http://www.jk2files.com/file.info?ID=18018 Remember, the port to the Chop Shop Movie Server changes at times, making a Favorite link to it invalid. Search for it by name, or open the console (shift ~) and type /connect 12.225.192.16
  3. I just want to clarify the "don't kill sitters" rule at my server. I started that rule to DISCOURAGE CHATTING by making it inconvenient, i.e. you had to sit to legally chat, otherwise ON YOUR FEET = LEGAL TARGET. My intention was that players who wanted to chat had to sit briefly, say whatever, then get up and back in the fight. As much as we would all like people to say nothing and just fight, it's just not realistic. Some people just have to chat, which then inevitably leads to the "LAMER!" whine. My "sit to chat" rule was (is) an attempt to deal with the reality that people are going to chat. It provided an easy comeback to the "LAMER!" whine: noob: "LAMER!" me: "Really? Were you sitting?" noob: "no, but my chatbox was up" me: "So? ON YOUR FEET = LEGAL TARGET" noob: "LAMER!" me: "Were you sitting?" noob: "no, but my saber was off, and saber off = peace and luv, right?" me: "Saber off means easier to kill, if not sitting then you have no reason to whine. ON YOUR FEET = LEGAL TARGET". If you chased someone around the corner and they happened to put up their chatbox 1 millisecond after you started your attack, if they whined about "laming" you could always come back with "tough, you weren't sitting". We still get arguments daily from new players to our server (and lots of "honor" regulars) who say that on "every other server", any killing while chatbox is up or saber is off is "laming". We say sorry, that's not the rule here, on your feet = legal target, and since that is one of only 2 rules on the server (the other is no spawn camping) and it is clearly posted, they have to accept it or leave. Just to toss the "honor" players a crumb, I allowed them to be legally protected if they were sitting briefly while saying something, since sitting gives immunity from saber swings (but not thrown sabers, guns, or explosives), and it made it really obvious that someone is not fighting at that moment. Unfortunately, the rule helped with the "laming" problem but it created new ones: 1. People sitting and chatting the whole map 2. People sitting to spectate 3. People sitting to avoid death 4. People sitting on the flag base on CTF maps 5. People sitting with the flag or holocrons So now the MOTD and automated server messages remind players: -Sit briefly to chat only -Don't sit to spectate. If not fighting, go to spectator -Don't sit too long, it causes hemorrhoids -This is a battleground, not a chat room -Hate getting chatkilled? Simple, don't chat! -Don't sit on the flag base or with the flag -Don't attack sitters, except flag or base sitters, they are fair game I have also recently set the cvar g_timeouttospec = 60, so players who are inactive for 60 seconds will get kicked to spectator. So in addition to telling the "LAMER!" whiners they have no case if they weren't sitting, the admins are also telling sitters to get off their butts and into the fight, or go to spectator because they will be sent there anyway if not active. It's not a perfect solution, but it works most of the time.
  4. When you set your video for fastest performance, it doesn't draw the sky, which reduces the computer's workload. Go in the console (shift ~) and type \set r_fastsky "0" and the sky will be drawn.
  5. Check out this link: http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Fender/Standard-Stratocaster-01.html Looks like it is pretty highly rated by other owners (8.8 on a scale from 1 to 10).

  7. I am NOT very good at wall floating, but I am sometimes able to do it by: 1. Using speed, as you know 2. While holding down jump and forward, you must also do some strafing motions to the left and right while jumping. Doing those just right seems to be the difference between success and failure. Just a few taps left and right, while keeping your desired course. 3. Turn just as you touch the wall. When making your own server, you can make it easier to wall float by going into the console and entering: /set g_speed 300 or higher /set g_gravity 700 or lower

  9. Check out this website: http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/ It's like an eopinions for guitars and amps where real musicians give critiques of every brand and model of guitars, amps, and accessories.

  12. Running JK2 DOES hog all your resources normally. CPU activity goes up to near 100% on my 2.4GHz P4 as soon as the game starts loading, much less playing. Of course, I am assuming you have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from your videocard's manufacturer's website. Don't know if you are talking about Single Player (SP) or Multiplayer (MP), but in either case, launch the game in Safe Mode and try the following: 1. Open the console (shift ~) and type /set com_HunkMegs 128 or 256, then exit and restart the game. Try 128 first. This will allow the game to use more memory. 2. Go to Setup, Sound. Set Sound Quality: Low and EAX: Off. 3. Go to Setup, Video. Set Video Quality: Fastest. 4. Go to Setup, More Video. Set Video Sync: On, Dynamic Lights: Off, Wall Marks: Off, Anisotropic Filter: Off. If you are able to get the game running in Normal Mode, then start adjusting these settings one at a time and verifying that the game still runs. For instance, if it runs at 640x480, try increasing to 800x600. If it still works, try enabling Dynamic Lights, etc. See which settings cause the most trouble and which you can live with at the lowest settings.
  13. It runs on my 3 Win2000 boxes (P3 800MHz 768MB, Celeron 1.8GHz 512MB, and P4 2.4GHz 1024MB) just fine. You said it "takes up all my available resources". What are your computer's specifications: CPU, RAM, and videocard?
  14. If it sounds like a sound is stuck in a loop, it might be a soundcard\chip problem. Set sound quality Low and turn EAX off. Also turn music volume all the way off.
  15. I like the new color scheme! It goes well with my Avatar:amidala:
  16. Hmmm, that's the first time I've heard that one, and hundreds of players have experienced the joys of dismemberment on my servers. If you have at least 256MB of RAM, try typing /set com_HunkMegs 128 in the console, then completely exiting JK2. Restart JK2 and try /set cg_dismember 2 after joining a dismemberment-enabled server. /set com_HunkMegs 128 increases the memory available to JK2 from 64MB to 128MB, and might help your problem. It also helps when certain large map files like ctf_palace won't load. You can also try /set cg_dismember 1 for less dismemberment.
  17. It depends on whether you are talking about the Single Player or Multiplayer games, because the commands are different. For the Single Player game, open the console (shift+tilde) and type /set g_saberRealisticCombat 1 For the Multiplayer game, BOTH the Server AND your Client (your computer) must have it enabled. If you are making your own server to play against bots or your friends, type /set g_dismember 100 in the console to enable it on the server. To enable it on your client, type /set cg_dismember 1 for just arms and legs whacked off, or /set cg_dismember 2 for arms, legs, heads, and waist-cuts (cut in half). /set cg_dismember 0 turns off dismemberment. If you go on the Internet, the server admin has to have it enabled on the server or you wont see it. Both my FFA-CTF server (Chop Shop INCREASED SABER DAMAGE FFA-CTF Server 64.246.58.228) and my Disruption Instagib server (Chop Shop DISRUPTION! Instagib Server 64.246.58.192) have full dismemberment enabled if you want to see what it looks like. Make sure you type /set cg_dismember 2 in the console AFTER you have already joined the server so the setting gets written to the correct jk2mpconfig.cfg file. On the FFA-CTF server, if you hit someone across the head with a lightsaber, you'll see their head fly off and bounce as it rolls on the ground trailing smoke. Hit them across the waist and you cut them in half. On the Disruption Instagib server, a headshot with the Disruptor rifle blows their head off. Good gory fun!
  18. Movie shooting tonight 7PM Pacific, 9PM Central, 10PM Eastern at the Chop Shop Movie Studio Server, NOT the main Chop Shop FFA-CTF server. Search for it by name or simply type /connect 12.225.192.16 in the console. You will need Duelers Mod 1.3 and the maps Lindsey listed above. Change maps by calling a vote.
  19. OK just so there is no confusion, the next movie shoot will be at THE MAIN CHOP SHOP FFA-CTF SERVER, the 32-player server at 64.246.58.228 on Monday, August 4 at 7PM Pacific, 8PM Mountain, 9PM Central, and 10PM Eastern. Lindsey said we don't need Duelers Mod for these scenes, so it will be easier for people to participate. You just need the sandarena2 map here: http://www.jk2files.com/file.info?ID=4778 and the battledroid skin here: http://www.jk2files.com/file.info?ID=4786 This file has the correct Geonosis-type battledroids. Please download these files NOW if you don't have them, don't wait until everyone else is trying to get them Monday night. This will be the FINAL movie shoot on the big server, no matter what happens or doesn't happen, so this is your last chance to be in the big battle scene. Tell a friend!
  20. Let me clear up some confusion. Movie filming will take place on the server called "Chop Shop Movie Studio", IP address 12.225.192.16. Unless there is a technical problem, the server is always running. There is just one little detail: the server uses a non-standard port, and the port sometimes changes. Most JK2 servers use port 28070 at whatever IP address they are using. For instance, the main Chop Shop server's full address is 64.246.58.228:28070, which means IP address 64.246.58.228, port 28070. However, the Chop Shop Movie Studio might use port 33011, or 12.225.192.16:33011, or some other port. If the server crashes, a utility program restarts it, but usually at a different port. So the server might be using a different port the next time you try to connect. This causes a problem if you add the server to your Favorites list. If you add the server to your Favorites but then the port changes, you will just see the IP address listed, not the server name, and your Favorite wont work because the port is wrong. The solution is simple: DON'T USE YOUR FAVORITES LIST TO CONNECT TO THE SERVER! Use one of these methods: 1) When you get to the opening main screen of the game, the one that says Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast Play Rules Controls Setup, bring up the console (shift and ~) and type \connect 12.225.192.16 2) If for some reason that doesn't work, go to Play, Join Server, Source:Internet, Game:All, Type: All, View Empty: Yes, View Full: Yes, then click Get New List. Click the Server Name heading to order them alphabetically, then look for the Chop Shop servers in the section that begins with plain (no color) server names. You'll find all three Chop Shop servers in the "C"s.
  21. Server name is Chop Shop Movie Studio. IP address is 12.225.192.16
  22. Buy a REAL, legal copy of the game. Or wait a few months for Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
  23. Future movie making will take place at the Chop Shop Duelers Mod 1.3 Test Server, IP address 12.225.192.16, NOT the main Chop Shop server. May I suggest you make the movie during the day on the weekend, rather than a weeknight. More people will be able to show up. And please make sure you have everything ready and working.
  24. Um, there's not much point in having a password if you want it to be posted on a public forum, so I won't have a password. I can let you have the server say from 7PM Pacific (9PM Central, 10PM Eastern) until say 11PM Pacific (1AM Central, 2AM Eastern), but then all the regular players will want to get back to playing. I will be there at the start to enable cheats, but I won't be available the whole time. You can change to duel_kaminoan by calling a vote.
