If I were you, I would try rolling back to the driver version that you were using when you last played TSL without any problems. I know that it sucks, but at least you don't have to deal with trying to get TSL to run on Vista.

And feel free to run the resolution patcher and bump the resolution up to 1920x1200 or even the full 2560x1600. That card has triple the shader count and a 50% wider memory bus width of your old card. It should be able to handle a MUCH higher resolution. Astro says that TSL is beautiful at 1600p.
