EFX Files - vis limitations

I've been working on something that requires 2 totally different areas of the map to run effects at the same time (using EFX files). The reason for this is during the effect, anyone in those 2 areas gets transported to the other area...the problem is that if you trigger a fx_runner in a separate area of the map and then beam in, you can't actually see the effect...my question is does anyone know a way of stopping this so once you teleport in you can see it?
