I've dug around the assets for the demo and it seems pretty easy to make the various customizable parts for each race/class. I was trying to import character GLMs, but Milkshape would crash everytime I tried to load LOD 0. I'm pretty sure it's because there are just too many triangles for it to handle, but I haven't had a chance to try importing in max. There are 3 levels of detail for 3 different parts of the mesh (head, torso, and legs used for customizing) not to mention the caps and tags....that's a LOT of polygons.
