For modelling, you really need a 3D application that can export files in the proper format, or in a format that can be converted to the proper format.

For skinning, it's best to start off trying to change some existing skins, and that can be done by dipping into the assets.pk3 files that come with the game (using something like WinZip), and extracting the necessary 'skin' files for a particular model. Then use a decent 'paint' application (I use Paintshop Pro 7 most of the time), to make your own textures/colour schemes, etc.

i got all the links you need for mapping:

click here for JKII Radiant, this makes maps

Rich Desials Mapping tutorials, best for begginers who want to learn to map

This might be a lil' advanced, but if you want to make cutscenes, or just make a super good SP level, you need to script, and this will let you script

Anyways, like kurgan said, please post in the JO mapping forum, if you have any questions, we will be very happy to answere them!
