I also saw that when I changed the EAX on and off while ingame, I got a message "Ancient DirectX - This will slow down FPS" I don't like it I have 9.0b installed.. help anyone? SephirothX
So, does it slow down the FPS? Any way to fix this?? Anyone know anything?? This ain't good, I feel... I'm running 1024x728 High High gives 15 FPS In the Jedi Outcast I had 1280x1024 High Very High and that went SUUUUPER SMOOTH! I spawned like 50 NPC's and had them fight... no lagging... NRF_Storm
I think its a problem with the FX range of cards and DirectX 9. I 've got a FX5600(256mb version) and JA kept crashing and when it did play I got about 45fps max. I also had problems with 3dMark 2003 but scored about 2000 points. Getting frustrated at not being able to play JA I took the FX5600 out and put my old Geforce4 MX(64mb) back in. Now JA plays perfect with 90-99 fps on most maps. SephirothX
That's not good, at all! I turned of some dynamic glow, or sumthin... however, this boosted up my FPS... got about 20-50...
Samus
Hm, I have a Radeon 9800 Pro, and I don't get the DircetX problem (I have version 9.0, I think.) But my FPS isn't great either. There are some people with older systems who claim they get over 300 FPS with the highest settings. My comp is brand new and damn powerful, and it can't play a Q3-based game at highest settings in 1024x768! As you said, SephirothX, this is scary! Astrotoy7
Yeah, I have a GeForce 5200, with dynamic glow off I get about 60fps, whether it is 1600x1200, which is what I run ot or 800x600 ! On JO I run at 90fps, but since JA has more detail I can live with it, BTW, 60 fps is fine. Does slow down a bit on 'lighter colored' levels, especially with open spaces... As for those numbskulls who carry on about 300fps, I and others have mentioend this before, the optic nerve is unable to process anything beyound about 150fps, better to go for the higher rez and detailed shaders kids.....
