lukeskywalker1 Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 When making a trailer for a mod youve made, is it legal to use the ingame music, and voices. For ex, in a few months ill be making a trailer for my jk2 mod, i want to add some star wars music, and use some voices from the mod, such as kyle's and some voice acters ive gotten, and probably jan's Am i allowed to do this? Thanks!
razorace Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 While it's technically illegal, lucas legal tends to overlook it when it's nonprofit and not competing with other LEC products.
lukeskywalker1 Posted October 9, 2003 Author Posted October 9, 2003 Thanks, im not planning on using a lot... maybe i shouldnt, just to be safe. Its legal to use his voice and stuff in game though right like in a cutscene..? (i know dumb question, but i need to get the facts straight)
razorace Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 What? Are you talking about source materials from JKA or other JK products?
lukeskywalker1 Posted October 9, 2003 Author Posted October 9, 2003 My project is a jk2 movie but its totally scripted... in other words a giant custcene in jk2. Ive got like 5 minutes... and a lot of work to do... mostly because ive been slacking off a lot. Anyways, you know kyle's voice in jk2? Im sure its legal to use it in a cutscene thats in game, but is it? Im just wondering. I know its probably a dumb question.
razorace Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 It's ok. It's not a problem to use source material (including voices) that are already in the game.
Emon Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Most people don't care or notice the use of sounds, but when you start to take things like textures and models, it can get messy.
