Need Help In Multiplayer Pt2 ;) (text colors, skins)

Thanks for your help on the previous question it is now working beautifully!

 

I have seen lots of people with different colour names, what does this mean? Is it just a custom thing? If not, how do I do it

 

Also, where is the best place to get mods for JA? Like new players etc

The ^ character followed by a number changes the color of the text:

 

^1 = RED

^2 = GREEN

^3 = YELLOW

^4 = BLUE

^5 = CYAN

^6 = MAGENTA

^7 = WHITE

 

Some mods allow the use of ^0 or ^8 for BLACK text. So entering your name as ^1Ima ^2n00b will look like Ima n00b

 

Go to the Files section of http://www.jk2files.com or http://www.pcgamemods.com for skins you can download. You should know that the other players also have to have the same skin file installed to see your skin correctly, otherwise you will look like a default character.

I have seen people on my JA pure server using black text in their names, IN GAME.

 

The only "mods" I run are JKII_voices.pk3 (a sound mod only), and the JKII map packs, but those weren't running at the time, this was on a regular JA FFA map.

I can use black text in my name, but it will only show up in the stats (admin) window and in my profile, but not on the score table or in in-game chat.

To reply to an old thread, the search for black text is over (I give up).

 

Seems LOTS of people join my server with black names, but they are obviously are using ^0 or ^8 and probably because they are used to using mods that make those show up.

 

So viewing the server in ASE it looks like they have black names, but IN-GAME those letters are red or white.

 

The only way to get black text to show up in your name without mods seems to be ^^0, which will give you black text, but that means you'll always have a ^ symbol somewhere in your name (which can also be changed in color).
