Apprenticeship

I reckon this is (and is set to become) a problem in the design of SWG?

I'm new to SWG and have reached level 4 in all the marksmen skills (as well as good levels of scouting and medic skills) yet I don't have anywhere enough apprentice points to be taught 'Master Marksmen'.

Being reletively new to SWG, there aren't many people wanting my skills.......and it's only going to get worse for people who buy the game in future months.

They're going to find themselves at the bottom of the rung and they've nothing to offer anyone.................and, therefore, will seriously struggle to gain apprentice points.

Take my mates for example - living in the UK they bought the game when it was first released on import and have been fortunate enough to see many noobs come along since who they've trained.........then they were hit with a glut of noobs a fews week back when it was released in Europe...............but I came along after that and have 'grown' with these lot.

So whats the answer:

* you can hang around the popular places (med centres, cantinas, star/shuttleports) at the likes of Mos Eisley, Anchorhead or Coronet................but as soon as anyone asks for training they get pounced upon but loads of people;

* you can hang around quieter areas and hope somone sees you and needs you.........but there isn't the volume of people to bump into who need skill training;

* you can switch servers (all that time and effort wasted!!!!!) to one of the'new' european servers that'll have a higher percentage of noobs;

* you can look to take groups of noobs out on missions, and hope they gain skills that you train there and then...........but you'll have to sit around as any attempt to 'help out' will dramatically undermine the amount of XP they gain;

* or, like me, hope a load of newcomers have SWG on the Christmas shopping list and we're hit with a new breed of noobs who need training shortly after;

It's a nightmare scenario and, at the end of the day, I bought SWG to get out there and do stuff...............not to sit around the entrance of a starport twiddling my thumbs until someone comes along who you can train!!!!!!!!!

Or, if you have friends in game who are willing to dump some skills so you can re-train them. :)

Or you can ask people if they are willing to surrender one or more skills so you can train them in those.

This only works if the person is not going any higher and/or have the XP to spare that is. ;)

Jan's idea about having some friends dump skills so you can train them is good i have dropped and retrained skills until I am ready to dump for the pts for bounty hunter. The advantage is you use the skill alot like a scout and trapping got to level 4 make 20 traps dropped lvl 4 back to three better traps more points to get back to 4 and friend gets 50 xp for training me. Deal is when the friend who drops the skill gives tell that he needs 4 again you drop what ever your doing and go train him or her. Another good deal If you have the same skills as friend again lets go with trapping you could train him to 4 make traps exchange traps in trade and you drop 4 he trains you and you could do this till you both have enough apprenticeship points. Plus you get artisan xp for him using your traps and him using yours.
